Continued "Our Family" - He was a dapper dresser, who loved cars, especially his yellow convertible. Pal was an early entrepreneur, owning such businesses as the Jones and Brown Dry Cleaners and the Piney Grove Restaurant, both in Buckingham, Virginia. In addition, he purchased several acres of land in Virginia and houses in Washington, DC. Pal didn’t believe in credit and encouraged his children and grandchildren as well as other family members to save, save, save. He believed that you should save twenty-five cents of every dollar. He loved family and provided living space in his home. When his sister Gertrude and her husband Herbert returned from Hawaii, their family stayed with Pal, as did many other family members. He enjoyed visits from his sisters, playing card games (Bid Whist and Setback) and checkers. When his granddaughter Monica was a baby, he said she looked like his brother Ted. He often babysat his grandchildren and supported their sports endeavors. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball with the Buckingham Grays and winning the softball city championship with the DC recreation league. He enjoyed routing for the Washington Senators, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins.
